When we created Tastemaker Shoes in 2017, our goal was to create more fashionable footwear solutions for the modern plant-centric, sustainable-thinking individual.
Que - the pandemic.
While the 2020 pandemic almost took us out completely, it has also challenged us to re-define what sustainable products mean for us in the footwear space.
The affects of the pandemic has accelerated our desire to re-invent ourselves and create the next generation of sustainable, ethical footwear.
Today, we continue to take steps to create shoes with the least amount of impact to global warming with 100% vegan materials, while keeping the qualities of shoes that we all know and love: durability, comfort and style.
We're Building A New Chapter
Our original goal in 2017 was to offer a collection of vegan shoes that focused on giving you more options and variety.
Recently our philosophy of what's valuable has changed. In many ways, it has flipped upside down entirely.
Today, we're hyper focused on steering Tastemaker into a new direction where we offer less styles, with more benefits.
This next generation of tastemaker shoes will be focused on extending the life of shoes, through improved craftsmanship and using more eco-friendly materials where we can.
For sustainability, we see the innovation of plant-based textiles, such as apple, coffee, pineapple, and cactus leather as the forefront of sustainable fashion.
For craftsmanship, we believe shoes that can withstand a longer life-cycle through sole repairs is in the best interest of our environment's best interest.
Our aim is to re-build your favorite vegan shoe styles in a superior way, one shoe at a time.

What's Project Ninety-Nine?
Incase you haven't noticed, we're currently offering our entire collection of vegan shoes at $99 or under.
Project Ninety-Nine is an effort to go against the norms of dumping or burning older seasoned or excess clothes to "protect brand exclusivity" or prevent the "devaluing of products."
Here's a few not-so-fun facts about the clothes we wear:
- The average American throws away around 81 pounds of clothing yearly
- Three out of five fast fashion garments end up in a landfill within a year of purchase
- 100 billion items of clothing are produced each year
- In 2017 alone, Burberry destroyed $36.8 million worth of its own merchandise
It's really simple - we'd rather take a financial loss than to contribute to polluting the earth.
The good news? You get to a chance to buy brand new, un-used tastemaker shoes for just $99.
This project will simultaneously fund the development of our next-gen vegan shoes that will be built more durably and use innovative plant-based leathers.
We hope our shoes can find a new home on your feet!
